Isn't humu cute

We flew from Kona (Big Island) back to Maui and our final car is a Chrysler 300 series with leather seats. Times sure have changed since good ol' Dusty (may he rest in peace). We got back home and it was a good feeling. We planned to go to LuLu's for fish tacos again. On the way we diverted from our plans to drive the 30 minutes to Lahaina for one last Annie's shave ice and it was worth it. Then we shopped a little and headed back to Kihei for dinner at LuLu's and to find our dinner from the last time we ate there. We found it! Picture included.

For our lasy day we went to our favorite beach, Keawakapu. We laid out and did some snorkeling. Had to get our last look at the state fish, Humuhumunuknukuapua'a. Then got our very last shave ice in Kihei Village at Local Boyz . Mailed our laundry back home, headed to my cousin Garys house to return the air mattress and say Aloha and mahalo! Then of course we headed to our second home for Caprese and the Ferraro sampler at the Four Seasonshttp://www.fourseasons.com/maui/dining/ferraro_s_bar_e_ristorante.html.

Our last night at the Four Seasons we had not seen any stars until we were heading out and almost ran into the tech from CSI Las Vegas...http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005120/

The Big Island with big problems...

Stayed at Hilo Seaside Hotel. Old but nice with a BIG koi pond out front. Would stay there again. Nice staff. They had a great breakfast of pancakes with macadamia nuts and grilled bananas.
But...

This island is at the bottom of my island list! Maybe a lot of it has to do with being exhausted but I don't know. They need to play those afterschool specials from the 80's about not doing drugs because it is ridiculous here. Very out in the open. If I were to come back I would do a night helicopter ride to see the lava flow and the summit of Mauna Kea. There isn't much else here. No pretty coastline, no good maps, confusing directions, and places to eat are few and far between. We could have made the drive on Crater Road but it is only open between 5-8pm and we didn't find out until it was to late. We went the scenic route and the signs for the lava viewing area are only posted in one direction so we missed it. We made it to the black sand beach, which was cool. We wanted to check out green sand beach but there was a 3 mile hike to it and it was getting dark. We made it to the Volcano National Park but most of it was closed because of Sulfuric gases. A cop told us another place to view the lava from afar. So we went and turned around on a turn off got stuck on a rock. No phone service. The jack had to be on lava rock. Not many people drove by. Flagged down some guys they didn't have a crowbar so they went to see if their friend had one. Meanwhile, Mahalia risked her limbs and pulled they rock out. The guys came back and said, "We are staying at a gay B&B so there was no crowbar". They stayed while we drove out and had to give us a push. Praise the Lord for saving us on a dark road, no phone, safe guys, and no limbs lost Amen!!!

Ready to go back to Maui!!!

4th of July on Oahu and our BIG adventures

We arrived late at night and ended up with a convertible Chrysler Sebring (the car we got was smoky and a light came on when we started it so she hooked us up). We headed straight for Castle Ocean Resort Hotel of Waikiki (ok place) and got a glimpse of the night life. this island is definitely more of a city atmosphere. There is a lot to do and see here. We had to get up the next morning for our extreme adventures.

Mahalia had to be there @ 6:45 for her ultralight flight and I had to be there @8:30 for skydiving. Both activities were at the Dillingham Airport (an hour away from our hotel).

We drove the North Shore with the convertible top down. Saw where the filmed Lost, where Pipeline is in the winter, had an amazing chocolate-coconut pie from Ted's bakery, went to Pearl Harbor, bought souvenirs, shopped the Waikiki strip ate at Senor Frogs, watched the fireworks from Waikiki Beach, and checked out Quantum of Solace playing on Queen's Beach behind us. The next morning we headed to Diamond Head before we went to the airport.

The most gorgeous place on Earth-Kauai

For all of you school employees out there, check this school out... Mountains in the back and a beach across the street. Hanalei School! Does that sound familiar? The land of Hanalai...Puff the Magic Dragon. This town was the influence. On the helipcopter our pilot pointed out the mountain that looks like a dragons spine.

Views from our helipcopter ride... I only took 400+ pics of this island.

Chickens are everywhere!

Next year I would definitely like to spend summer here. The Napali Coast is the most gorgeous place I have seen in all my travels. It would be a great coast to kayak.

The sea was very angry today. The day started out like any other day at the beach. We got there early and the waves began washing up closer and closer. After getting washed over with waves several times, we decided to pull up our mats and towels to dry while we went to take a walk. On our way back, we noticed an old woman letting her dog take a leak right in front of our stuff. Needless to say, if her goal was to get us to move, it worked. So we moved further down the beach about 50 yards and got ourselves settled again. After crisping in the maui sun, we decide to cool off by taking a dip in the ocean. While we're out there, a dad with 2 girls decide that its perfectly okay to let their dog walk all over our stuff. To top it all off, the waves decide to wash us out completely so that nearly everything we brought was soaked or covered in sand. I guess you're due to have one bad experience at the beach out of 25 plus visits.

The Shaka Sistahs are tired so we have nothing more to say mon! Tomorrow we fly to Oahu, Kauai, take a helicopter ride, drive the Na Pali coast, then fly back to Oahu. The next day, July 4th, we get up super early and Guava flies and Ultralight and I jump out of a plane.

Aloha!
