Our journey on the heavenly road to Hana

My cousin Gary said he would take us and we were glad because it sure seems like a crazy road. He even took us on the treacherous 4x4 route instead of having to back track the whole way.

Hey ya'll! Mahalia here and I got the low down on Hana for ya. We drove completely around the base of Haleakala and got to see some spectacular scenery. Its hard to pick a favorite spot because each had their own unique qualities. I liked the red sand beach but it was a little hard to get to. The black beach is something you just have to see to get just how special it is. Pictures just won't do it justice. Much of the coastline along the Hana road was very rugged and inacessible to foot traffic. Kalia's cousin did a great job as tour guide and was able to take us on the section of road most people don't get to go on. You would not believe the height of the cliffs there. Amazing!
